Visit live site

Kris Friesen’s paintings are detailed, colourful, and often expansive. The website needed to preserve that impact on screen instead of reducing the work to a conventional portfolio grid.

Let the artwork occupy the space.

We rebuilt the platform as a digital gallery: visually immersive, restrained in its interface, and structured around the ways visitors discover artwork, projects, exhibitions, and prints.

01

The setting

A quieter interface gives expressive work more room.

Large-format imagery, minimal navigation, reduced text density, and generous white space allow the paintings to establish the visual character of each page. The interface provides enough structure to explore without competing with the work.

Ways to explore

The gallery supports quick discovery and deeper viewing.

Visitors can move through broad gallery collections, examine individual projects in detail, or follow the development of larger murals and commissioned pieces.

  • Multi-column gallery browsing
  • Large individual artwork views
  • Finished and in-progress project sequences
  • Continuous discovery across the body of work

03

Public activity

The portfolio connects to exhibitions and print discovery.

Editable event listings give upcoming exhibitions a clear home, while sharing and print pathways help individual pieces travel beyond the gallery without turning the experience into a conventional storefront.

04

Independence

The presentation can grow with the practice.

A custom administrative system gives Kris direct control over galleries, artwork, projects, and events. New work can be published and organized without ongoing developer involvement.

Responsive media handling, progressive loading, and image optimization keep large collections fluid while retaining the scale and detail central to the experience.

The gallery connects to a living public practice.

Events, exhibitions, and direct content control let the presentation keep pace with the work.
